About ADRA
The Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) Australia Ltd. is a Christian, humanitarian agency that creates opportunities, empowers people and shares hope.
ADRA Australia engages in sustainable community development and emergency management in Australia, the Pacific, Asia and Africa.
In collaboration with ADRA implementing offices, governments, other agencies and organisations, ADRA partners with communities in need to facilitate positive change and provide opportunities for people in poverty.
ADRA Australia is fully accredited with the government's Australian Agency for International Development (AusAID), and is signatory to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) Code of Conduct.
ADRA Australia is part of the global ADRA network, and is the humanitarian arm of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. With a presence in 125 countries, ADRA was established for the purpose of providing community development and emergency management to all people regardless of ethnicity, gender, religious or political affiliation.
In Australia, ADRA implements a range of community development and welfare initiatives, such as:
- At-Risk youth projects
- Women’s refuges
- Refugee assistance projects
- School based resilience projects
- Transition services (helping to transition people out of dependence on material welfare)
